Toasting Shot?

My fiance wants to have a shot of tequila as our toasting choice in addition to champagne. We would have individual shots and glasses of champagne available to each guest. I am ok with this, since a majority of our guests are our younger friends and it would be a big hit. The only thing I am worried about is the fact that we weren't planning on having cocktails at the reception...only beer and wine. Would it be weird to only have beer and wine available except for the shot?

Re: Toasting Shot?

  • I personally think it's a little weird, but as long as it's available to everyone, I think you're ok etiquette-wise...

  • I love the idea of having a toasting shot, but I do see how if tequila is available for the toast guests may be surprised to see that it is not available at the bar when the go to order.  I'm assuming you and your fiance must really like tequila, so have you considered perhaps offering a signitature drink made with tequila?

  • I agree with PPs that it would be weird if you are only serving beer and wine to have tequila shots.
