OOT bags

Hi ladies, I've been reading about OOT bags and all that stuff, but here is my question.  What are they?  Like, I know they're for the out of towners, but what typically goes in them?  Is it customary or expected to have them for the oot guests?  Thanks!

Re: OOT bags

  • Its not "required" to have them, it is just another thing the wedding industry thought up to welcome your OOT guests to your wedding town, I have heard that they usually have a couple bottles of water, snacks like chips or trailmix, a map of the location, itenerary for the wedding day and directions to where they are going. Little things like that.

My fi and I have decided not to do them, because we don't have alot of OOT guests coming, and its not worth spending money on.

But it is totally up to you

  • We're doing them, but in a rather informal fashion.  Personally, I see their purpose as being a helpful and comforting treat for guests who are out of town.  I enjoyed receiving one at my friend's wedding because I was in a hotel room with no bottled water or snacks after a night of drinking - it was great to have that 'little touch of home' to make my night in the hotel a bit more comfortable.

We're doing a destination wedding, so ALL of our guests are traveling, and most are turning the trip into a week vacation.  It's a beach wedding, so we got plastic sand buckets from Christmas Tree Shop, and are filling them with bottles of water and snacks, along with an extra set of directions, and a list with some of our favorite places to eat and go.
