Show Me Your Ring(s)!

Post your engagement ring / wedding set and tell me about it (if you helped pick it out, your engraving and the story behind it if there is one :D )

Here's mine:

My engagement ring and one of my wedding bands. It's NOT a diamond, I personally didn't relish the thought of FI spending so much on something that would just sit on my hand (especially with how harsh I am on my jewelry I'd be terrified of it getting damaged or stolen!). After researching alternatives, I found Moissanite and got my FI on board (it's almost as hard as diamond (9.2, diamond is 10, CZ is 8), 2x the fire and a lot more sparkle than diamond and a fraction of the cost!). SO I picked out 3 of my favorite rings and let him choose from there :) This is the one he picked :) it's a 1.8 ct cushion set in palladium and I wear a size 5.75. :)  And I'll be wearing it along with a plain palladium band that has our engraving on it (Thank God For Lemons 8.17.12   - which is in reference to my horrible lemon of a vehicle which is how we met as he is a mechanic that i was introduced to through a mutual friend when I was having more issues with my Jeep) :D

When we first started talking about getting engaged, a girlfriend and I went out and looked at rings just to see what styles I liked. I then gathered those styles and gave them to my FI. From there he did the research and found this beautiful ring for me. :)

  • I do not have a picture with the wedding band but it is a very thin band with diamonds much like the crossy thing on mine E-Ring. We plan on doing a 1 year band for the other end.

FI knows how picky I am.....so he proposed with a James Avery Double Heart Ring. The next day we went searching for the ring. It took us about four different stores before we found this one....thank you Jared's!

  • Aww! All your rings are so pretty! odustudent I really love that he gave you his grandmother's ring! I'm a sucker for heirlooms and sentimental tokens of affection like that ;)

  • During our first Christmas together my FI went home to visit his mother.  She gave him his grandmothers ring, (probably around 40+ years old).  He is terrible at keeping anything from me and told me, and showed me almost right away.  Six months later he gave it to me.  The bands I picked out from Jareds when we were having my e-ring resized (his grandmother had huge hands!) I came back about 6 months later and purchased them.

My FI chose my ring himself and it's perfect!  My sister guided him in the right direction as she knew I loved princess cut & white gold, but it was really all him!  I love the twisty band, so I have opted not to have a wedding band.  I don't want to change the look of the ring at all.  I'm going to purchase a plain titanium band as a "wedding band" and will likely wear that instead when we travel or do adventures (camping, skydiving, etc).

Oh, and I had to laugh - FI almost had my ring size right (I have miniature hands!)  With the help of my sister, he selected a 5.  Resized, it is a 4.  Seriously, who has a 4?!  This girl with child hands, that's who!

  • YAY! My most exciting part about the wedding. First picture is the engagement ring FI picked out all by himself. The only thing he knew is that I didn't want a big gaudy ring. Just something simple, that would go with anything.

The 2nd picture is with the wedding band. It is a simple band, but has diamonds and baquettes that extend out the side to wrap around the engagement ring. I originally just wanted a simple band with a few diamonds on it, but FI was determined I had to try on the ones that wrapped around the engagement ring. Tried this one on, and fell head over heels ;-)

I've decided that most brides get that exciting, warm fuzzy feeling when they try on their wedding dress. I did not get that feeling with my dress, because it was waiting for when I tried on the wedding band.

  • We went to pick it out together. I picked two settings. I didn't know which one I was getting until he proposed. I love my ring.

  • I haven't decided on my wedding ring yet :( I'm having the hardest time pairing my engagement ring with another ring.  Here it is with one I'm considering:

  • All of your rings are SO beautiful ladies!!! And rungirl that's how I felt and mine were sized at a 5.5 but when they swell even my 5.75 is kinda tight. =X so glad we went a 1/4 size up!  but yeah you got some TINY hands! lol

  • This is my e-ring.  I gave FI a lot of input (had to have a cushion) but he made the final decision.  He had it made in one day because he knows I'm too curious and I didn't realize he was going to propose until a few minutes before hand.

This is the band I want.  I don't plan on wearing them together.  I will switch e-ring to right hand.

If the style allows for engraving I will get "you're mine" and so will FI.  When we were at Mass one week there was a nice story that I don't completely remember but FI misquoted it and it's been a sweet joke ever since.

  • This is so funny, I picked up my wedding band about an hour ago! So I'm posting a picture from my phone... it's terrible... and please don't judge my unmanicured nails! I will post a picture of my e-ring from our shoot back in October too.

My FI hates making decisions so we picked out the ring together... I went in thinking princess cut, and fell in love with cushion cut... FI loved it bc it looks like an Ohio State block O, which is fine with me, bc I just love it! Crazy how many of you have cushion cut as well... I don't know anyone with it! But all your rings are beautiful! So many choices out there!!!

This is my engagement ring, it was his grandmother's. It's crazy gorgeous and so unexpected because I didn't even know he had it. The matching wedding band is similar but instead of the big stone, it's just three stones the size and shape of the side stones.

This is his wedding band. It's a mix of palladium white gold and sterling, just got it last week from Etsy and it fits perfectly. We haven't decided whether to get them engraved...

  • FMIL and I looked at rings together.  Loved the setting and got my pick of center stones.  It's a radiant cut center, with princess cut diamonds in the band.  Kind of simple and I love it.

His band is a plain tungsten band that I won at a bridal show.  He says it's perfect...that's how much he cares about the wedding band : )  Truth be told, it's probably exactly like what we would have purchased anyway!
  • Such pretty rings ladies!!!

    and DeClue: Thanks!! :)

I really like your idea of switching your ring over and keeping them separate!

Also, I just had to add & comment since my FI is the grammer police - make sure you tell the engraver the spelling on "you're mine" so you don't get "your mine."  Cringe <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-sealed.gif" border="0" alt="Sealed" title="Sealed" />

  • Here is my ring. I helped FI pick it out before we were officially engaged. It was my favorite because it was a little different than all the others we looked at. I really loved the leaf design on the sides.

  • I too couldn't fathom spending a fortune on a real diamond, and went with Moissanite set in palladium.  My e-ring is a princess cut center stone with 5 channel set princess cut stones on each side.  Since it was a set, my wedding band matches my e-ring with the channel set princess stones, I don't know how many cuz FI has it tucked away some where.  LOL.

  • I know I'm a bit late to this thread but I haven't been on my home computer where all my pictures are for a few days.
I've never wanted a diamond ring.  FI was shocked when I started showing him rings Iiked which were sapphires and he said "So this layout but with diamonds?"   He did a good job picking out a beautiful sapphire stone.
