First SUCCESSFUL DIY project :D

I had every plan to be a DIY bride, until I remembered how ridiculously I stink at all things crafty lol I attempted a few projects anyways that I thought were fail proof, until they met the likes of me bwa bwaa bwaaaaaaaa!!! lol Anyways I finally got one right... and it was so easy! I was running out of money in the ceremony portion of my budget but I still needed some decor... enter pomander (kissing) balls! I was scared I was going to fail at them like the others... but I watched so many tutorials and read so many direction because I couldn't risk spending the money I planned to spend on them and then have them be useless to me (at that point I probably would have attempted to recruit my crafty MOH, but she's planning her own wedding so I would have felt bad)

I ended up doing 6 the first day and 4 the next. Now just 9 more to go for the 19 total I need (10 for ceremony aisle decor; 8 hanging from ceiling beams in the reception room, and 1 for the flower girl). They took about 45mins & $7.00 to make each one. I used silk flowers, but some people make them with tissue paper... cheaper but a lot more time consuming & crafty.

If your interested in making these but are scared your not crafty enough, trust me that you ARE! Let me know if you need any guidance :)

  • Beautiful!
  • I think they are wonderful! I originally planned on being a full DIY bride as well. I gave up on that when it appeared that my schedule did not permit such lofty ideals. Pomanders are exactly what i "hoped" to do, and ex-nayed them for the convenience of a florist. To date we have completed table runners and numbers and our invites. But now, i am thinking if I should have done this

  • Looks great! I'm going to be making pomanders at some point, but I'm putting it off at the moment... I'm impressed you finished them in 45 minutes (each)! Lots of people take a lot longer, you did a great job!

  • Where did you get the directions on how to do these? I want to make some to have as aisle decor for our outdoor wedding, and I was thinking of making these out of tissue paper. Yours look amazing!!!

</div><div>I made mine out of silk flowers, but when I was researching I had considered doing tissue paper but decided I was not crafty enough and also didn't have the patience to make them as they are way more time consuming. Here's the tutorial I planned to use:</div><div>

</div><div>I'm using a florist for everything else cause I wanted real flowers. But these honestly do look real, and I wasn't about to spend the $35 - $50 per a ball for real one's lol You should still considering doing them.... like I said they only took 45mins a piece... I just did them well watching tv so they literally didn't take any time out of my normal day because that's what I would have been doing anyways

</div><div>Really? Maybe you are thinking of the one's made out of tissue paper? Those take MUCH longer. Silk flowers are easy... for a 3inch ball, which is what I used, you just need to stick 25 - 30 silk carnations into the ball and hot glue them in place. I honestly think the tv show I was watching was distracting so they took longer than necessary lol
