August 2012 Weddings

Back to the drawing board!

Hey ladies (and possibly gents?) !  Nice to meet you all, and it's good to know there are so many anxious brides out there just like me!

I need to vent a little and my darling HTB isn't seeing things my way atm, so here I am!
DF and i planned to do a destination wedding as we have many people coming from far and wide, only makes sense, right? Well, everyone has been perfectly on board, I even have every last detail sorted out. Then, it all falls apart. Two of my BMs drop out... TWO!!  (we also lost a GM b/c he's the hubby of one of the BMs)
I've decided to elope and maybe have a reception in town, but DF still wants the grand celebration on the beach.. needless to say, I'm one super UN-thrilled bride.

How many times have your plans changed? I can't be the only one!

  • Our plans have sort of changed a few times - but remember. You only have one wedding. The rest are vow renewals.

Why did your BMs drop out?

  • our plans didnt necessarly change as we just reliazed that where we wanted it was not within our financial grasp and what they wanted wasnt what i was willing to pay for one day.....if you elope make sure its what you really want...and what your fiance wants.....

  • I'm pretty sure I'm the ultimate plan changer on our board.  Let's see...

    Plans were..
    1. Big wedding in Cape May at a hotel
    2. Big wedding in other beach town (we thought about Dewey Beach, Rehoboth Beach, and OBX)
    3. Back to big wedding in Cape May at a hotel
    4. Married in Mexico
    5. Big wedding in Cape May at a beach house
    6. Big wedding in Cape May at a civic club
    7. Small wedding in Cape May with a big reception at home
    8. Now we're at a big wedding at home, and then we're going to have a "wedding" (just the two of us) on the beach in Hawaii during our honeymoon since I've always wanted a beach wedding- it's just too expensive.

Don't worry.  You are definitely NOT alone in changing your plans.  At this point, I have such a headache from this plan changing thing, that I want to elope sometimes too!  It will be worth it in the end...

  • Oops haha I forgot about the brief stint of getting married at Lake Erie (after mexico fell through).

Let's talk about dates, too.  So far it's been 8/10, 9/22 and now 8/18.

So really, change your mind sometimes.  It's okay to be flexible hahaha.

    Thanks ladies!

Christine, I don't have a full answer from either, they're basically beating around the bush. WHATEV! It's honestly my last worry right now, the day is really about FI and myself anyways.
Kaitlyn, sound advice, thank you. I intend to make this day a happy one!
Jacqui.. WHOA SISTA! that's a lot of changes! Now I don't feel so bummed.

We've decided to scale it down, have close family and friends who can make it out and *maybe* do something in town. Bright side, I guess, I get to plan it all over again. YAY! (being genuine!)

  • We've definitely changed our plans and venue and date so much! We just *officially* put down a deposit on our venue this past week, so right now our date is for sure and so is our venue haha!!  We went from having around 100 people to 11 to now 50 because FMIL didnt like the immediate family only idea.
