Garter

So...exacly how does this part work? Lol.

I wasn't really planning on having one originally, but I received a handmade one at my shower, so I'll at least wear it. Do I wear it through the ceremony and the reception?
Then I have two minor problems:
1. I'm not sure if I can wear it on my thigh because of my dress. I'm wearing a chiffon dress, and I think it's form fitting enough that it'll be visible enough to see lumps (it has a feather on it). I'm going in for my dress fitting on Saturday, so I will know for sure then. But if it does show through, should I move it lower on my leg?

2. It's too tight on my thigh. I tried it on and it felt unconformtably tight, like if I wear it for an extended period of time, I'm worried I'll be cutting off a bit of circulation. It felt similiar to some thigh-highs I used to wear that I ultimately stopped wearing. Is there a safe way of stretching it?

I feel like these must be super silly questions, but I have never worn one of these before! But I figured you ladies might have some useful input!

Re: Garter

  • If your not planning on doing a garter toss, you don't have to wear it, especially if it's uncomfortable.

If you do end up wearing it you could wear it as long as you would like, either the ceremony and reception, or one or the other...or you could slip it on when you change out of your dress and have it as a little surprise for your new husband....

Lots of options, just a matter of personal comfort, I will be wearing both garters, as I plan on doing the garter toss, but it is totally up to you :)

  • agree with PP....put it on for a couple of pictures, then if you chose to do a toss....sneak into the bathroom and slip it on right before hand =D
  • Thanks ladies. I think if I do decide to do the toss, I would probably get a different one to throw because I don't like the idea of someone keeping something that was handmade for me, haha. I hope that's not weird. But I do like the idea of having it on for some pictures! I might do that.
