Catholic Wedding: Godmother gift?

I'm not sure what to do - because we got customized antique spoon bracelets for each of the bridesmaids, me and the mothers. But should I just get those for the Godmothers too?  My mom is INSISTING that their gifts be different than anyone elses (she has a superiority complex) - and now I'm not sure what to do.

We're getting pocket watches for the groomsmen, so we would get those for the Godfathers too I'd assume.

  • Each of the Godmothers will be getting a corsage (and all my flowers are silk so they'll get to keep them too) - but I wanted to do an additional gift. I don't see why they need to be different - my mom is just playing that I gotta have the better gift thing that she always does.

  • I did put thought into it, ALL of my BP likes antiques as do the Godmothers. I wanted somethin that was personalized but I can't seem to find much that is specific for Godmothers. I wonder tho if I could find a frame that mentions Godparents on it and have a photo from our Baptisms with our God parents and one from the wedding? Hrm... I just dunno what to do lol

  • Personally, I would do what YOU want and if that is giving them bracelets like the other attendants and you feel happy to do that, that is wonderful!  I don't think everyone needs a different gift if you think everyone will like/enjoy the same gift.  It should be none of your mom's business what you intend to give as gift as you are the gift-giver and she is not.  You are the one thanking them.  I doubt she would feel it is her place to chime in on what you give them or someone else as a birthday gift.  I don't see how this is any different.

  • Thanks rungirl :D

I haven't been able to find anything as unique and special. The spoon bracelets I got are each different. So they're not exactly the same pattern, they're all from 1897 - 1908 (my daughter's is from '48 I think). So cool and unique :D
