Silly question, maybe?

Soo, this may be a silly question. We have a DJ for the reception, (family friend), and he has offered to be there as long as we need and do whatever we want/need. So my question...can we/do we use our recepton DJ as the ceremoney music as well?

That's what we're doing. We didn't hire an official DJ--a friend of ours who is an apprentice for a DJ offered to help us out. But she is doing both ceremony music and reception music. And seeing as she's also a wedding guest, she's just going to manage the music (we'll have it all playing from a laptop) so she can enjoy being a guest as well.

So I don't think it's silly at all.

EDIT: As PP mentioned, our reception and ceremony are in the same place, so it all made sense for us to do it this way.

If the wedding/reception is in the same location then I think that is a good idea. I know that my FI DJ'd in the past and it is a lot of work to set up/tear down actual DJ epuipment and it may be a lot to impose on a friend to do that if they are separate locations.

that is what I am doing, we hired a DJ for the ceremony and reception so go for it

They are in the same location however the ceremony is outside and the reception is inside. We will probably just use the same guy.

Yes - I think most DJs do offer both ceremony & reception music if it's in the same place. I'm doing this too.
