August 2012 Weddings

Starting to get a little nervous....

So far, the wedding planning has been very smooth, I can't complain. There is only a couple of things I am starting to get a little nervous about:

1. We have a church but no pastor at the moment. My fiance and I are members of a small Lutheran church, and getting our date was no problem. However, our old pastor left in April 2011, and the call has been out ever since then to find a new one. We got our hopes up last month, because out of 3 potential candidates, they church had contacted one. However, we just found out last week that he turned the position down...so now we are hoping that one of the others will take it. We do have an interim pastor, but my fiance wants to wait and see what happens before asking him to do the ceremony. I am worried that he will already have other plans if we don't ask soon....

2. Booked a beautiful venue but they have had financial problems (not new, they filed bankruptcy about 2 years ago, and it seems like they are doing better). I am not expecting them to close (they have about 30 weddings booked), but it does make me a little nervous.

Ok, feel better now :)

<div>This happened to a wedding I was in last year.  They never gave her a confirmation or not, even within just months of the wedding, but the paperwork and filing takes so long that things still hadn't been resolved by the time of her wedding.  It was an anxious headache-inducing issue, but just take a deep breath and assume you'll be okay.  (It doesn't have to hurt a backup in mind, though.)</div>

  • I can relate with the venue stress. Our ceremony venue is in an old church that is now a music hall and recording studio. Last fall the local newspaper printed an article about how the building needs money to keep up with the repairs and they alluded to the steeple could fall over onto the street this summer. It made me really nervous, but I have to trust that things will work out and my wedding coordinator has assured me that if things were really that bad they wouldn't be letting people into the building.
