Anyone know of any great places in Dallas to have a wedding reception that can hold about 200 ppl.?

And what do you like... historic venues?  Formal, ballroom type venues?  Outdoor, garden type venues?  Do you want to do reception and ceremony at the same place?  If not, where is your ceremony (probably don't want the reception venue to be too far away)? Also any idea to budget will help us narrow down your choices.

Our budget is of about $7,000.

Im looking at having the ceremony at the same location if the church isnt available on our day. I just want a pretty, nice & elegant place. I just dont want any regrets. Historic is fine. Just need some location ideas to start looking...

Definitely check out the Old Red Courthouse. Maybe the Belo Mansion?

$7000 for 200 ppl (if budget is to include food and drinks) within Dallas proper... hmm...Hickory Street Annex?  http://www.hickorystreetannex.com/Old Red Museum?http://www.oldred.org/The rental fees on these two will really put a bit of stress on your food and beverage budget...I think you'd have a lot more choices if you're willing to look out in the suburbs.

I agree with Donna. You may want to check out Country Clubs; they won't charge nearly as much to use their facility. Most places in Dallas proper will require half of your budget just to rent the facility. Also, you'll need to decide on what time you want your reception to be; that will play a part in how much it will cost.

The Belo Mansion is very expensive and they have some strict policies about security and stuff.  Try the Village Country Club.  It was nice and very reasonable.

Some will work with you if you're not a member.

I'd call around to different CC. Lakewood Country club requires you to have a sponsor (another member), but not actually be a member.

I am not sure about Dallas, but from my understanding, for most country clubs you have to be a member or sponsored by a member. In Fort Worth, that is the case. Suburbs means like Plano, Rockwall, McKinney, Grapevine, Coppell....anything out of Dallas proper.

By suburbs I mean not within actual city limits of Dallas... Plano, Garland, Richardson, McKinney, Frisco, mid-cities, etc. Usually there are more affordable venues if you're willing to expand the area of your search.$7000 for a country club reception for 200 ppl will be kind of hard, too.  I only looked into 2 country clubs (Stonebriar up in Frisco and Craig Ranch in McKinney) and both had food and beverage minimums for Saturday nights that are quite high.

Yeah, Donna is right about the CC thing as well. What I meant is that a CC won't charge you a huge amount to have your reception there.

This is totally off-topic but I got the latest D Weddings magazine (I think) from my WC a few weeks ago and in the middle of it, it has a 2 page pull out section of lots of Dallas venues, what they charge pp, if they have ceremony space, outdoors, etc.  I've been thinking of scanning that or typing it up or something so we could post it somewhere.  Except I don't know how to do the second part.Anyway, it could be helpful.

The biggest problem with most CC--at least those I checked out---is they max out around 150--170 people. I had a hard time finding a place to hold my 250 guests.What about the Addison Events Center--Nae had a really good experience...

The Atrium at Granville Arts Center in Garland is nice--but I have no idea as far as price.There's a new venue called Ashton Gardens that is booking for 2010.  I know nothing about it but it looks beautiful.Texas Discovery Gardens?  Again, no idea on price.I'm no help on venues because I picked one special to me and didn't look very much.

Founders Hall at Richardson Women's Club will accomodate up to 250 (would be ideal for 200 plus a dance floor) and their rates are great.  Also has gardens on their grounds for an outdoor ceremony.http://www.richardsonwomansclub.com/venues/founders_hall/rates.html Spring Park's community center will accommodate up to 200, might be a tight fit but it's also very affordable.http://www.springpark.org/rental_rates.html

Both the ones I just listed are about $1700-$1800 for a Saturday night.  Since your budget also has to include food and drinks for 200 people, I wouldn't spend half of it just renting the space.

I looked at the Atrium at Granville Arts in Garland this weekend and it's nice and affordable. The Old Red Courthouse is giving an extra $200 off the rental price if you book on a Friday or Sunday. It's a nice historic building with a lot of character.

I realize El Dorado Country Club in McKinney may be too far for you, but just to give you an idea I'll tell you about it. They do not have a rental fee, just a $2500 food/beverage minimum on Friday night or Sat Afternoon, and an $8500 minimum for Saturday evening.  You can have an indoor or outdoor ceremony there. We were not not required to be members.I have some info if your interested.

I got married at Corral Barn at Fairview Farms and loved it- but it is definitely not for everyone. Maybe Eismann Center in Richardson.
