Meal price increase- so stressed!

When I went for the walk-through of the venue and I found out that you can't lock-in prices on menu items until 2 months out from the event, I got stressed about the idea of it going up (I've learnt that this is standard). A big part of picking this venue was the food prices (we are having bbq food and are on a very tight budget). The planner told me there was a recent increase in prices and that she doubts it will go up again in the next year...and if so the absolute MAX would be $3/pp for a plate. Now...that seems like a lot to me and I was really relying on the fact that the prices would stay the same and if they went up, would likley not go up $3/pp.

Well I randomly just went to the website to see if there were any changes to it (the website is less than a year old and I figured they would be updating it at some point)

1 of the meals I was looking at (the more expensive of the 2) had a increase of $5 per person!!!!!!!!!!! Umm...what??? And took two things off the "included in this meal" list (watermelon & Ice cream sandwhiches. Though not essential....REALLY mad that they increased the price that much AND had the nerve to take things out of the package!)

Not only that...but the cheaper of the options I mentioned? GONE. They took it completley off the menu.

Now...say this meal was a $55 meal....maybe $5 wouldn't be such a big deal cause your budget is already fairly high (this is an assumption...made out of rage...so I'm probably wrong...sorry if I offend somebody). But the orignal price of the meal was only $15.95 (came with very little...I was adding things to it to make it a better package) and now that same meal is $20.95. When the price is that low, that is a huge increase!

So now we don't have the cheaper option, the more expensive option went up $5/pp AND comes with less things included.

I am STRESSED. This is going to cost us over $700 more than planned! & there is nowhere to cut back from, I already have the minimum amount budget for everything. The only thing to cut back on is # of days to take for the honeymoon...and that is just really upsetting to do so people can eat the same food they were going to eat a month ago for $700 cheaper.

Sorry...I just really needed to vent. I really want to e-mail the coordinated and see what this is all about...there is no way the price for food increased that much (she told me that the only way the prices would increase). Also find it pretty rude that she didn't message me to tell me the prices increased. If I didn't check myself I would still only be budgeting and saving as though the prices were still $5 less a head.
