Wedding Speeches

Who's doing them at your wedding?

Is just your groom doing it? Are you joining in with him? Are you both giving separate speeches?

I'm very traditional in my relationship with my FI, I've got a 50s housewife mindset and so I like for him to take control of things. I am thinking I want just him to give the speech at the wedding reception and I may say a few things at the rehearsal. I'm just not sure though!!!

I'm planning to just wing it. I'd rather say "thanks for coming" and leaving it at that.

FI and I are both planning to give a short speech/toast to say thank you to our guests.  I just wrote down a few notes on an index card so I don't get nervous and forget to acknowledge any person or group of people that I want to.

FI haaaaaates speaking in public, and I had three years on the speech team, so I'll be making a little impromptu "thank you" speech on behalf of both of us. My dad will be making a little speech, too, and maybe the MOH and best man.

I wasn't really aware that the bride & groom were expected to give speeches.  We have my MOH, his best man (his dad), and my dad to give speeches.  I guess if people expect us to, we will on the fly.  Neither of us is bothered by speaking on the spot.

He hates speaking in public so I will be doing a little speech just to say thank you and than his brorther and my dad will probably give a speech and that's it. No open mic.

haha, I can see my FI doing the same thing. I've mentioned it to him and we plan on saying something but if it doesn't happen we'll be fine with that too. My dad, MOH and his best man will be giving speches.

I never even thought about us speaking.  I guess we'll play it by ear - neither of us mind speaking in public, but I don't know what to say - my Dad will be speaking, FI's two groomsmen, and my brother (who is my brother-of-honor).

We are not the hosts so we are not speaking. My Dad will thank everyone for coming, etc. and my MOH and the BM will give toasts, that's it.
