NWR: Job Rant

Okay ladies, I'm really frustrated here.

I'm a contractor, and I get pretty good pay, but no benefits. Fine. I know that's more than a lot of people have, so I'm not complaining.

But I'm getting realyl frustrated here. They never tell me if/when/how long my contract is being extended for, and whenever I ask, they always tell me "don't worry about it" or "we'll talk about it later".

Miraculously, I've been here for 10 months.

I ACCIDENTALLY found out today that 12 days ago they re-posted my job on the Internet. I have no idea what this means (if they have to post it formally before actually hiring me full time, if they are replacing me or if they are getting someone else to supplement my work, as we are short staffed). On top of that, I asked HR and they can't talk to me about anything related to their company because I am a contractor. I can only talk to my agency about it. (Of course, how is my agency going to know, as they are often kept in the dark about everything, including my contract dates and renewals).

I'm feeling really hurt because I've been burned and burned and I really don't know what to do (besides of course looking elsewhere). I can't get anyone to talk to me without them risking their own jobs and it just all around sucks.

I feel so cheap and useless. :-(

If the outside posting is from the company, I would apply for it.  If they are trying to turn the position into fulltime, then you might be able to go around your agency and get in the door as a permanent employee.

I like your thinking!  This also would let your company know you KNOW about the posting and maybe they will give you some inside info if they see your resume in the pile.

Thanks for the advice ladies.

I contacted the agency, and like I suspected, they had not heard anything about the job being re-posted. They told me to apply for it if I want and to keep looking in the meanwhile.
