Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

OU/TX Trash Talk

I'm headed down to Dallas tonight, but since I'm pretty much stuck in the burbs doing wedding stuff all weekend, I need a fix...

I don't usually pull for anyone but, if someone has to lose, I prefer that TX lose.  Although, I still say it's TX/OU.  It's happening in TX.  If you want to call it OU/TX, then host the game every other year.  :-)

I'm rooting for OU although I'm not going to have fun in the traffic for the bit that I will be on 35  :(

Doesn't matter where it happens :) I think the official ticket speaks the truth:

Sorry Marissa but the Big 12 needs UT to win. They are our only ticket to the NC. And I've always called it OU/TX weekend for some weird reason, probably for grammar reasons lol

I don't really have a preference for either team actually, but it is my duty as a Texan to root for TX!I'm actually enjoying OU being rather unsuccessful this season so I don't have to hear them boast about themselves so much.No offense, but I think OU has hands down the most annoying fans I've ever seen.

No offense, but I think OU has hands down the most annoying fans I've ever seen. Really? Even after the whinefest pulled by Texas last year? It's entirely possible we're on the list, but I'd rank us somewhere below Texas Tech, Texas, and LSU.

What?! Now I will agree that we were whiny the last couple of years but this year we aren't whiny at all :). I'm kinda disappointed by this year and how we lost to UH. But I think overall teams are less whiny this year but then again its only halfway through.

Even though I didn't graduate from UT Austin, I did graduate from one of the other UT schools, so I hope Texas beats the crap out of OU.  I met a friend of a friend the other day that graduated from OU and I can honestly say I've never seen anyone else as pimped out in college gear as he was.  OU Shirt, cap, sunglasses, maroon car with OU stickers, and so on.  And he would not stop talking about OU and Oklahoma.  Very annoying.  :)

Steph, if you think they are bad, check out Arkansas fans. When I went to the Arkansas vs Florida game last year, I was in awe the entire time. Cars had at least 10 razorback(or as I like to call pig lol) stickers all over. I saw several with pom poms sticking out the trunk. They all wore pig hats(sorta like the packers). Everytime they do the calling of the hogs, I think of Lord of the Flies. Their call also has the same pitch as the tornado sirens. It seems like I am dissing them bad but I seriously think it is ridiculous. Even my brother who goes there makes fun haha

Marissa -- It may just be the people I happen to come into contact with on a regular basis.  I'm all about spirit, but the ones I know think that their school and their team are God's gift to everyone.  It makes me want to gag.

Just to point out...UT doesn't host the game every year. Dallas is the halfway point between both campuses. Austin / Norman. The University of Texas is in Austin...it is not the only college in TX although most of their fans seem to think so!!Boomer Sooner!!

Haha Marissa, that is totally true! As I'm pretty indifferent about who wins, I admit that it is actually really fun to mess with the fans I know from both sides.  Ruffle their feathers about it. :)

tnickel, if you want to discuss rabid Arkansas fans, you should know that my father owns Razorback china and has taught every child in his vicinity to call the hogs as early as possible. "Woo pig" may have been my first words. Sigh. As for OU/TX...go Mean Green! I'll be tailgating at our homecoming this weekend. with the only other people in the world that don't want to see the OU-TX game.

I will say that I don't think we will win this year. And as much as it hurts, I could see Texas going to the NC.But if we do pull off an upset, OU fans wont count the season as a total loss

I don't really care about either team winning. I guess Texas although it grates against my skin to say that. My complaint- that Texas and OU get to play one another in a neutral location. After seeing our Red Raiders falter last year in Norman, it seems unfair that these two quality teams never play each other at home. Part of playing an away game is dealing with the atmosphere and the fans of the other team. I understand money is behind it but it seems unfair that two of the best teams in the Big 12 do not have to play one another at home when both teams home atmospheres are so daunting. I do realize that we are playing Baylor at Texas Stadium this year. I am sort of against the whole idea. I think teams should alternate playing each other at home each year.

Dreynol--I kind of agree with you, except it's so much fun to have it in Dallas!

I'm rooting for UT...we need a good Big 12 win. And I'm going, so it will be fun to see them win. During basketball season it looks like KU gear threw up in me; it's awesome!! I love representing my Alma Mater.

Dreynol1, I always thought that it was strange that they played in Dallas also. I mean we have to play OU and TX in their stadiums and vice versa so why can't they? But I've gone to a Tech vs Baylor game in Waco and it is not hard to play there at all. So this game doesn't matter as much.

Now that it's a Big 12 conference game, I don't think it's right but remember, TX used to be in the SWC and OU used to be in the Big 8.

Oh yeah Julie, that makes sense. I didn't follow football when the big 12 was formed(considering I was only 8) so I never knew that. I guess I should have looked.

...and OU is not the only team in the country although most of their fans seem to think so.That is quite a concept. I guess they wouldn't need to play any of the games. Just award OU the NC trophy and call it a day. Hmmmm...the possibilities are endless on that one.On a serious note my post was in reference to it being called OU/ TX and UT not being the host team simply because it was in Texas...but I like your idea about OU being the only team in the country. I may go with that!
