COTTON MILL MCKINNEY

Has anyone had their ceremony/reception at the Cotton Mill in Mckinney? It looks like it could be a great backdrop to a reception.

Hi Ashley!  I probably can't help much because I have not had/attended a wedding there, but I did look.   I think it is a great venue if you are creative and want to do it all yourself.   If I remember right, it is  pretty much a blank slate and you have to bring in everything. I'm just totally not that creative.

Welcome Ashley!  This board will be slow over the weekend but hopefully you'll get more responses Monday.

Ashley - I haven't had my event yet, but the Cotton Mill is going to be my reception venue for my event in November 2010.   The property manager (Darla) is very nice and if you ask her, she will let know the days when wedding party (comparable to your size/#of guests) is hosting an event, so that you can get a sneak peek during the set-up.   At her suggestions,  I have dropped by to see the set-up of a few weddings - The only stipulation is that you get there and leave before the guest start arriving.   Like someone else pointed out, it is a clean slate for you to work with.   Like the perfectionista and micro-manager that I am, I like to have creative control- hence the choice.   I hired a wedding planner (Wendy Kidd) who is familiar with the facility (its pros & cons) because she has done a couple of receptions there.   She is going to execute and implement the set-up for my reception based on my vision/plans.   Personally, I would not consider using the Cotton Mill if you do not plan to have a wedding planner or DOC.   It is just too much work.

It was our 2nd choice venue (we went with the Old Red Courthouse). I liked Darla, and the space is beautiful, but was concerned that they have NO prep space whatsoever for the caterers. It was also just too far away for us.
