Biggest Fear?

Re: Biggest Fear?

  • I have obsessive compulsive disorder and a part of that is paranoia / anxiety and hypochondriatic issues PLUS! I'm crazy empathetic, so when someone else says they feel ill, I almost instantaneously feel ill (same goes for when someone is hurt). It's ridiculous. I'm hoping i can keep it in check on the wedding day - and I certainly hope I don't end up feeling ill legitimately!! I'm gonna be such a nervous wreck over my fear of getting sick that day!

[QUOTE]As far as "getting your period" talk.. I was worried about this because I am right on par to have it for both the wedding and part of the honeymoon. I have read (and obviously talk to your doctor about this first) that if your on birth control you skip the last week (the 'sugar pills') and start on a new package and you'll skip your period and it doesn't heighten your chances of getting pregnant. Some women still spot slightly or have cramps or whatever normal symptoms you get during the time... but for the most part you skip it. That's what I'm going to have to do because for the last 6 months I have had it the last week of the month... and the wedding is August 25th.. oh joy! lol

Ok I did that with your pills, and I spotted/bled for the entire next month and got seriously sick because my cycle was off (constant migraines/nausea/etc.).  It took me quite a while to get back to normal, and I don't plan on doing that again.  Just a fair warning to ANYONE considering that!!

  • My biggest fear(s)
1.) Illness, I get really bad allergies from the water, so I plan to avoid any lakes/pools/hottubs the week of the wedding!!  I get stuffed up/itchy,watery eyes/headaches from congestion, etc. unless I take allergy meds within an hour of water contact (if it goes up my nose).
2.) Tan lines/sunburns - I burn super easily, and if I tan it doesn't go away for a long time!! I want to have a tan, but I figure I'll avoid the sun for at least 2 weeks before the wedding to avoid a burn.  My only problem is my family is very outdoorsy and coming into town early, so avoiding the sun could be potentially not a possibility.
3.) DRAMA - that sums up a lot of fears!!

Cold sores scare me.  I've only had 3 or 4, but it's been when I've been under a lot of stress or have written some large checks (even paying off a vehicle loan from my savings account a year ago...not something to be stressed about!!)  Weddings involve both of these things, so I'm packing the Abreva!

I had my annual appointment in March and I mentioned I was getting married in August.  The nurse was super excited to help me schedule my period around it.  While I was talking with the doctor, the nurse made up two calendars, one with my current cycle and one if I went an extra week on my birth control (I used the Ortha Evra patch).  I spotted a little that week, but now I can't even tell that I moved it back a week.  Definitely start now!
