Alterations

Ok so I have had my wedding dress since August....my mom came into town and I wanted her to come when I picked it out and she wouldn't be back in town until our wedding.  So my question is when should I make an appointment for alterations?  I got my dress at David's.
Not sure how long it takes and how many appointments I will need before the big day on August 11th.

I actually already had one fitting, but it was just to get bra cups sewn into my dress and to get the bustle done. My last fitting is set for two weeks before my wedding. (my seamstress works pretty fast). But if I were you I would call and check with the timing that they want you to go by.

When I went to Davids they told me to book as soon as my dress came in if I ordered since they book up fast for summer weddings. Just book the appointment now to start like 4-8 weeks before your wedding.

When I picked up my dress in September, DB told me to start alterations in March. That seems wayy too early to me, so I'm going to have alterations done elsewhere. My reasoning is that if they need 5 months to alter my dress, I don't trust them!

I didn't buy a dress at davids but the bridal shop I did buy from said they like to have 8 weeks to do alterations and 2 fittings. If you're having bridals or anything like that done you may want to start earlier.

I also got my dress from David's Bridal and picked it up last month. I made my first fitting appointment for March, but that was because they had a promotion going so that I can get something like $50 or $75 off of alterations but it is only good through the end of March (and I'd rather get the discount than wait until June). I know I will need the bustle and hem done as well as the waist taken in.

My dress is very detailed, beading and stuff like that, and it's not coming in until June.  If you want to make appointments now for later (like PP said), you can do that, but I wouldn't even be thinking about it right now.

I was told by the place I got my dress in to make sure I had my first fitting at least by June.

I'm the same date and my bridal salon said the earliest to go was May for the first fitting so I'm probably going to go around then and have a final fitting a few weeks before.
