Old, New, Borrowed, Blue

Have you ladies chosen your old/new/borrowed/blue?  Can one item be two things?  I have my new dress, a blue necklace, an old lace hanky I'm going to carry and not sure about my borrowed.....any suggestions?  3 months....all the big planning is done, time to hash out the tiny details and wait.

  • Old: I'm thinking I'll carry my grandmother's handkerchief. I guess my shoes count, too, but they're not nearly as old as the handkerchief, so it takes precedence.

New: A new perfume (so I'll associate it with that day!). But also dress, veil, headband.

Borrowed: Probably pearl earrings from my mom.

    Blue: Garter!
  • Old and borrowed: My mom's wedding pearls
    New: Dress, shoes, and veil
    Blue: Garter
  • My dress is new (along with most of what I'll be wearing), I've got a blue garter and blue shoes, and I'm borrowing my cousin's brooch to pin to my bouquet. I have no idea what to do about "old," partially because exactly how old is old?? Old as in something of my grandmother's? Old as in something from my childhood? Ugh. I'm sure I'll find something eventually.

  • Old: the gold in my e-ring, Old and Borrowed: my Mom's Ostrich feather wrap New: pretty much everything I'm wearing- dress, veil, shoes etc. I like the idea of a new perfume! Blue: my garter, but this one I'm excited about. My FI loves the idea of blue LED lights, but my wedding colors are black and white (so no blue lights). We are going to use blue LED lights on a battery back on my garter, so when he goes to get the garter, he'll see the flashing blue lights!

  • My fiance and I have lost most of our grandparents (only 1 living will be at our wedding), so most of the items are from them:

Something Old: My Nana (stepdad's mother) died last Saturday. I am taking her rosary and having it wrapped around my bouquet.
Something New: My grandmother (paternal) crocheted me a lace handkerchief.
Something Borrowed:#1, Blessed Mother medallion that will be sewn into my dress. My maternal grandmother wore it every day until she died, then my aunt (mom's sister) wore it every day until she passed away from cancer three years ago. My mom is letting me borrow for the day. #2, My fiance's grandmother sewed a satin and lace purse that his mother carried on her wedding day. And I will borrow it for the day to hold my lipgloss and my handkerchief.
Something Blue: Navy blue shoes. (the first detail I picked out for my wedding).

I think it is a wonderful way to honor and remember the family members that will not be with us on August 11th.

  • So you ladies are wearing your gaters for the ceremony?  My mom told me I should just slip in on at the reception....
