**Needs to vent....**

Okay so my Fi bought my beautiful engagement ring from Kay Jewelers back in March. I am going on my THIRD... yes i said THIRD problem wiht my ring. FIRST my shank broke, they fixed that. SECOND one of my diamonds in my band fell out so they had to replace a diamond. This was no more than 2-3 months ago... and NOW, my solitaire stone is loosely held in my prongs. If I wiggle my hand I can hear the stone move! Now, I do have the insurance policy THANK GOD or else we would be dishing out a lot of money. But it is so depressing to me that my original ring has all these issues. I want a new ring, not a different one but the same one but new. I'm completely tired about worrying if my ring has all its' diamonds are in it or if anything is broken on it. Has anyone else had issues with their e-rings? Did you purchase them at Kays or somewhere else? Thanks for letting me vent girls!

We got my rings from Helzberg.  The only problem I've had in the 2 years I've had them is in June when we took my ring for it's 6 month inspection, was a few loose stones, which they fixed.  Hopefully, that will be my only problem. I would talk to them when you bring it in and explain to them that this is unacceptable.  I would expect better quality from Kay's.  I don't know what they can do for you, but seriously-3 problems and loose stones all the time is not good and they should try to make things better for you.

Can I suggest taking it to a different Kay's?  Bill bought mine at a Jared store near his house.  After two months, they still hadn't fixed it (they couldn't get the right sized ring in, they made it bigger but it looked like crap, etc).  We finally took it to the Jared in Southlake and they have been amazing to work with!!!!  BTW, Jared and Kay's are part of the same company so policy is not going to be too different.  Take your ring to a different Kay along with your receipt.  Sometimes it's just that store.

Have you thought about going to a local jeweler not chain associated? Not that there is anything wrong with that but maybe it is a different option? I checked out Jared's in Southlake too and they were very nice but ended up going with Southlake Jewelers. I had my ering melted down and redone and they did a fantastic job. Just a thought.

The only problem I had was my diamond is a family diamond, and it was transferred into a new, more modern setting.  However, because the way the diamond is set in the prongs, it's actually smaller than the prongs that hold it - so it became loose after only a couple of months.  The lady FI worked with fixed it really easily though, and I haven't had any other problems. I'm sorry to hear you're having such issues, I hope the other PP's advice helps!

Thank you for the suggestions and stories. I will try going to a different Kays. The reason I haven't gone to a place other than a chain is because I am paying for the insurance with Kay to replace any damages that occur. I'm worried if I go anywhere else they will charge me. It is a huge inconvenience to not have my ring for the 2 week span they give me to fix the ring. Seems like everytime i'm without my ring I spend time with out of town family members and friends and some of them haven't even seen my ring yet. Very disappointing. I will try my hardest not to raise some cane tonight when I go drop my ring off :-)

Yes that is very true. I will try to think positive about this.

I have no experience dealing with Kay personally, but I would think this would warrant calling/writing a letter to their corporate offices. You gave them your business and are paying for their insurance as well, and you have not had satisfactory results with their service.  I don't know if that will get you anywhere or not, but it is worth a try.  If it is defects in their workmanship and not something that you caused, I think you should be entitled to exchange your ring and/or be compensated in some way for your inconvenience.

My E-ring is from Zales, and my wedding band is from Kay's. Awhile back, I went by Kay's to get them cleaned and the lady told me that my E-ring had several loose diamonds in it, and I shouldn't wear it until I could go by Zales to get it fixed. I didn't get the chance to go by Zales for about 2 weeks, and when I did get it inspected, there were no loose diamonds at all. The lady checked it several times to make sure, and even showed me. The lady at Kay's had no idea what she was talking about, apparently.

Just for an update ladies.... On my way to Kay's last night to let them know about my loose solitatire diamond I noticed an accent stone was missing. I was beyond pissed. I took it back to Kays and explained this is the 4TH time I'm coming here due to a missing stone or something wrong with my ring. The lady was very nice about it, said she would personally talk to the repair manager to let him know of my issues and hopefully put a rush on the ring. I just hope that when I do get my ring back there will not be any more issues with it. They have lost me as a customer in future purchases. I am going to go somewhere else to buy my wedding band and my fiances wedding band. Hopefully, the next time we spend thousands on jewerly we wont have this problem again.
