Reception Dress?

Anyone else changing out for their reception?  I think I would appreciate straps during the reception and love the look of these dresses.  Thoughts?

Re: Reception Dress?

  • I'm not changing. I just feel you pay too much for the dress to wear for an hour. If I did though I would go something short and fun. I like both short dresses you posted. I think I like 3 the best

  • Im not changing either.  I am going to be 'tacked' into my dress though so I can dance and not worry about it falling....I also feel you pay (and stress over) to much to wear the dress for only an hour, and also, i am only going to be a bride once (God willing) and I want to feel and look like a bride all day. =D  that's my oppinion though.  I think the third one is fun
  • So I am changing into a reception dress and it's very similar in shape to the second one. I'm going for a lacy, mermaid style dress for the ceremony and wanted something more fun and modern for the reception. I'm thinking about perhaps dyeing the reception dress so that I can wear it afterwards. I went with a longer length because I still wanted to feel like  a bride and the length helped me with that.
  • I'm not changing into a RD but I love the 2nd one and I think it'll still make you stand out as the bride.

  • I am not changing because I love mg dress too much and spent too much money on it to not wear it all night. I think the second dress is very elegant.
  • I'm not changing.  I love my dress and want to wear as long as I can.  We're even doing our pics the day after so we can get dressed up again.  But I like the 3rd one best.  Reminds me of the dress I got for my shower, and it is super flattering.
  • I'm going to change dresses after dinner, before dancing. I figure people might want to see the ceremony dress up close. But it is not comfortable for dancing! I lvoe that first dress I wore something very similar to my first shower.

This is the Nicole Miller dress I am going to wear at my reception:

  • I'm not planning on changing, but I'm bringing my favorite white dress and leaving it aside, just in case I get to the point where I'm about to pass out from heat or whatever.

    Love the first dress-simply stunning!

  • The first one is really pretty!

But personally I am not changing. I spent too much money on this wedding dress I plan on wearing the heck out of it!
  • I like the first one :)

I won't be changing, I ADORE my dress and I have waited a  YEAR to wear it, so I'm gonna wear the hell outta that sucker! LOL

I am also not changing for many of the reasons stated by PPs.

But I love the second dress too and agree that it would make you stand out the most and still feel "bridal."

  • I'm not changing either. I didn't pay a lot for my dress (but I don't know how much alterations will cost), but my "new" wedding** is 3 hours instead of 4 (that includes the ceremony) so at most, I'll be wearing my wedding dress for 4 hours.

**(by "new" wedding, I mean I had to change almost everything about the wedding I had previously planned, so now that's my "old" wedding.)

  • Thanks everyone for all your thoughts!
I'm still going back and forth...I found these Badgley Mischka dresses at Rent the Runway, so it'd be a very affordable option for a change out.  I think the longer dress is my favorite for the same reasons many of you listed.
RGomez....your reception dress is gorgeous.  I love the color and shine!

  • I'm personally not changing, and because I'm not 100% comfortable in strapless, I had straps attached to my dress!!  I love my dress, and although it'll probably get warm, I'm going to suck it up and dance all night in my bridal gown, after all I only get to wear it one day!! :)

  • I agree with a bunch of the other postings... my dress wasn't insanely expensive, but still the most expensive piece of clothing I've ever/will ever purchase. I plan to wear it all night... including back at the hotel bar for extended happy hour after the reception! haha
