NWR vent: jobs

I received another job rejection email today and am feeling pretty down about it. I thought that I would for sure at least score an interview on this one because my skills matched the job description perfectly, but I guess the company thought that they didn't. The past rejections I received were for jobs that utilize my specific major/degree but that I was admittedly a bit underqualified for, but this one was a step back and uses the administrative/office skills that I have more job experience with.

Sorry for sounding whiny, I know I'm not the only one going through this, but no one is home and I needed to get it out. Thanks for listening ladies :(

Re: NWR vent: jobs

  • Searching for a job is probably the most depressing thing in the world.  It's hard to stay positive, but someday you will get that interview and when you do, walk in there like you have enough confidence to float you to the ceiling.  Just like you ended up with FI and things worked out in that sense, there's a job meant for you and you will find it when you're supposed to.
  • I'm so sorry!  I know how that can really get you down! (it has for me!)

I'm not sure if it makes you feel any better, but it's not necessarily the case that the company didn't think you were a good match or unqualified... the problem is that the economy sucks so bad right now, and so many people are out of work, competition is very high.  People that are overqualified are applying for these jobs just so they can have one.

So my point is, I'm really sorry and I know it doesn't feel good, but don't let it make you feel worthless.  It's just really tough out there, and you have to keep putting your resume out there.  You'll find something!

  • Oh man, my FI has been looking for work for six months- it's frustrating. He averages about one promising interview a month and that's after a LOT of applying. It's a really tough job market but having been out in it before, multiple times, I agree with PP posters and think that something will turn up eventually, for you and my FI.Smile

  • I'm job searching too, and getting those rejection emails always brings me down.  I will tell you what my FI always says, and maybe it will make you feel better like it does for me :)

"No matter what happens with this interview, or if this application doesn't go through like you want it to, I am proud of you for continuing to try and not giving up.  I know it is hard, but the fact that you keep on trying rather than giving up speaks volumes about your character and heart.  You will find the right fit one of these times, I know it because I know you.  I love you sweet of my heart."
