need some feeback on flower girl dresses......

How much is too much for these dresses? Also, I heard within my circle of friends that they picked up the tab. We are ordering from alfred angelo and the dresses run about 120.00. I was thinking about paying half for them. Does that seem about right?

Re: need some feeback on flower girl dresses......

  • It is completely up to you, but I have found that they tend to be a little outrageous. My flower girl is FI's niece and she is 4. To purchase one that at the bridal salon was about $180-$240. It was not imperative that she match exactly, just that she looks like the fabulous little princess she is. We ended up going with this (<--clicky) dress from Kohl's. My soon to be SIL picked it up for about the same price it is currently listed at ($28). She also was able to purchase it in 2 different sizes in case she grows between now and the wedding.

  • I think that is a little outrageous for a flower girl dress.  My niece is my flower girl and my SIL and her mom found the dress on Ebay for $15 (prettier than anything I found on designer websites, and something she can wear again if needed).

That's just my opinion, if you want the designer dress from Alfred Angelo then definitely go for it, but if you feel like shopping around you may find something you like better for cheaper at another store.

  • There are TONS of websites like Pink Princess, MyGirlDress.com, etc. that have flower girl dresses for anywhere from $25-70. I got all my flower girl dresses (yes, I have 8 flower girls!) from those two sites, and they were very good quality, and super cute.

Also, 6pm.com  carries UsAngels flower girl dresses (which are gorgeous) for about half what you'll pay in a salon.
  • Is there a Burlington Coat Factory near you? They have a whole bunch of different dresses for a reasonable price. I just picked mine out for $40 the other day. They have a communiion dress section that works just as well for weddings. You can check department stores too--JcPenneys, Sears, Macys, etc. When I checked recently, the selection seems to be thinning out at those stores, though, because I think the communion season is ending. It could be different in your area, though, so it doesn't hurt to look!

If you go through the designer dresses, you'll pay about $100+; that's about the price range at David's Bridal too. If cost is your concern, you can go to any of the places that or other PPs mentioned for better prices.
  • Agreed.  We're getting my niece's dress from Macy's or Kohl's.... something she can wear again.  Same thing for ring bearer...  little church outfit from the same.
  • thanks for your feedback ladies! I will definitely check out some of these sites before I choose one. The reason why i wanted to go with AA is that they match the charcoal grey that my bridesmaids are using.

  • My FG is my F's 7 year old niece.  her mom saw a dress on line and just had to have it for her, was practically identical to my dress....and cost $130, for JUST the dress, no underskirt or anything.  So, I begged her not to spend that much, but she thought it would be so over the top to have matching dresses, next thing you know, she ordered the dress from an overseas company and the color was ALL WRONG.  They wont take it back because it was a special order, and now we're stuck with the useless dress.  I ordered one on Ebay for $30 that looks great with my dress and fit her perfectly.  I don't see any reason to blow a ton of money on a dress for a little girl. Just my opinion.
  • We went with Mon Cheri, the dresses were $120 and $160. They both came in already and look beautiful. I was worried about the price of my cousin's daughter's dress but when I asked her she basically said "of course that's not too much, whatever you pick is what she will wear." My cousin and her daughter absolutely loved the dress I liked, plus she had so much fun getting meausred and trying on the sample. The other dress is for my daughter. I was seriously more excited when her dress came in than when mine did, I can't wait to bring her in to try it on.
