Last Saturday when I woke up, I noticed that there was blood marks on my bed sheet and realized they were coming from my dog. We let it go a few days to see if it would clear up on it's own, since my mom lost her job last Thrusday( had a very stressful week too!) we were trying not to take her to the vet so we wouldn't have that extra cost. Well, since it didn't stop and she was starting to not act like herself we decided on Tuesday that we should take her to the vet.
My mom took her and turns out she has a blood disorder. The vet said that if we didn't treat it, it could be deadly to her. Since she's healthy in every other aspect, we couldn't think to not treat her. We have to give her 2 pills twice a day and a zantac once a day. Then take her back once a week for blood work to see if her blood level came up. Which the vet is thinking we should only have to take her twice that the meds should work for her. That they've only had one case where the dog had to see a specialist.
We definetly knew she wasn't herself when FI came over and she never came down to greet him, like she does everyday. Wednesday she was feeling better, still bleeding a little, but nothing bad, by Thrusday and Friday she was only bleeding at night. Saturday she didn't bleed at all.
Then today(Sunday) she hasn't been bleeding, but she's been throwing up. We might have to take her to the vet tomorrow if she continues tomorrow. I think it might of been the meds. She's picky with dog food, and picks out the different kinds and only eats a certain pieces from it, and I think all she has left in her bowl are the ones that she doesn't like, and therefore hasn't been eating and has been taking the meds with only the cheese we hid them in.
She hasn't seemed to have lost her appitate since she begged for McDonalds that FI and I were having for dinner. So I gave her a piece of bread, was too scared to give her anything heavy since in case she threw it up/spit it up. Since I gave her the bread she hasn't thrown up or spit up so hopefully her belly was just empty and the meds weren't settlnig right with an empty belly. We're gonna go out tomorrow and buy her more dog food that she hopefully likes.
Please keep her in your thoughts and that she fights whatever she has and gets 100% better soon!
Sorry for being so long!
