August 2012 Weddings

flower color

My bridesmaids are wearing the color euro sage (according to the designer swatch) and I was wondering what your thoughts are on having them carry eggplant color calla lilies?  You think it's too dark of a color?

Re: flower color

  • my girls are also wearing sage...I'm not sure exactly what shade your dresses are (do you have a link or picture?), but just based on the dresses I went with in sage I'd say that eggplant might be too dark. If you really like that color though it might look nice to do the rest of the bouquet in a lighter purple (or a light shade of whatever other colors youre going with) and then have a couple of the calla lillies as accents. I wouldnt go all dark flowers on a sage dress though

Why don't you bring a dress swatch to your florist?  I know I will have to bring one to mine.
  • I'm doing eggplant calla lillies for my bouquet (mixed in with white and lighter purples) and I'm OBSESSED.  I can't picture your color exactly but i don't think they'd be too dark if you mixed them with lighter colors.

There's another option too - my bridesmaids are wearing eggplant dresses, so I didn't want to do the eggplant callas for them, but there's another calla lily that is mostly white but the inner part is dark purple that we're doing.  It breaks up all the darkness but they're still lovely.
