Rehersal dinner?

What's your best suggestion for a rehersal dinner?
Resturant?
Banquet hall at the hotel and caterer in?
or?

This is totally up to you.  A lot can depend on how many are coming, who is paying, where the actual rehearsal is in proximity to the RD cite.

Personally, we are using a restauran with 40-45 guestst.  We gave them our budget and were able to pick our menu choices.  If you have kids coming, keep in mind you can usually get kids menus at a restaurant.

We are having all of our out of towners.  We reserved the covered shelters in a local park, and we're getting an inexpensive BBQ catered.

We are having it at a restaurant on the harbor. My FILs gave us our budget and this was the option that seemed the most convenient they could afford. I think it all depends on the theme of your wedding (casual, formal, etc). Since we are having BBQ catered for our reception I didn't think we should have a BBQ for the rehearsal dinner too.

Our church has a beautiful banquet room filled with windows that overlook some woods.  We will be having the RD there, and FMIL/FFIL are paying for the catering.  We can also bring in our own alcohol so we plan to have wine and beer.

We haven't picked a spot yet but it'll just be at a restaurant that's close to the church.

We had ours at PizzaHut in a private party room.  It fit our budget :)

I would have LOOOOOVED to have our RD at either a local pizza place (who doesn't love Chicago-style pizza?!) or our favorite Mexican restaurant that has a great private room and sets up a Margarita bar...

But, FILs are hosting and FMIL wanted something "fancier"...so both my ideas were vetoed.  It will instead be at an Italian restaurant that I'm not crazy about...And there will be about 60-ish people there.  Sigh.

If you have a lot of OOT guests and/or your area is known for a particular food or cuisine, I'd do that!  I think it would be great to have local specialties...BBQ, pizza, seafood, whatever your area is known for.

We had ours at Buca Di Beppo.  It is an Italian family style restaurant.  I looked at their menu online, wrote down what we wanted and how many of each dish and dropped my list off a month before our reservation.  That way when we got there, no one had to order, the food was ready and brought to our table with no wait.

We had around 20 people and paid $600 for the food and drinks.

Were going to do something casual. Prb just a bbq. With so much money going to the wedding not much left over. To me I would rather do a few extras at the wedding then spend a lot for the RD.

We are doing a fish fry at my FI's aunt's house.  We have a large wedding party and wanted to invite out of town guests so it was much cheaper for his parents to have the party at his aunt's and have it catered.

We are having a pretty laid back fun wedding. We don't have a BP so no major reheasals are needed but we are throwing a night before party at a nice bowling alley here that serves food and alcohol. Should be fun and is very us.
