Wine suggestions for pig roast?

Here is our menu for our rustic wedding in Vermont:

Maple glazed pig roast
Macaroni and cheese
Fresh corn on the cobb
Cheddar biscuits
Beans and rice
Cole Slaw
Green beans
Green salad

We are having a beer and wine bar (plus a fresh lemonade).  The beer is all set (we're using a FABULOUS local brewery), but we're stuck on wine pairings.  Any advice?

I would stick with red wine, I think. Perhaps a grenache or a burgundy?

Pork goes very well with Pinot Noir.  It's a red wine that's not too sweet or heavy.  Additionally, because you've got sort of a BBQ theme going on you might want to try a refreshing, crisp white wine like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio.

I'd have both red (and the suggestions above are great) and white (maybe a pinot grigio and a chardonnay - both very popular). I'd also have sparkling water to mix with the white wine for white wine spritzer. It's refreshing for a summer outdoor wedding.

Oh, wait, you never said if it was summer (assumed bc of BBQ) or outdoors (assumed bc of Vermont = nature = outdoors).

Thanks all!  Love the spritzer idea.  We're going to have a wine tasting party this weekend to try out some of the options... can't wait!

I actually prefer a Merlot or a Cab (or Bordeaux) with pork, especially roast pork (it can be pretty heavy).  For people who prefer white, I'd go with a Chardonnay.

I'd check out local wineries that do more country wines (fruit other than just grapes). An apple or apple-raspberry would be nice. Or even chokecherry.
