Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

Another cruise question...

What is the best site to book through? Anyone have any feeling about a particular site, or are they all about the same?

FI has one with great deals, but he's not online right now.  I'll post it as soon as he comes back.

http://www.vacationstogo.com/You have to register and the website looks a little hokey, but it's all totally legit.  Since you're going in January, check out the 90-day ticker.  There are huge deals there, although as of right now, I didn't see any leaving for Mexico or the Caribbean from this area in January, although more may come up.  The "Find a Bargin" section is the regular search.  All the prices are per person.

I booked our Royal Caribbean cruise through the Royal Caribbean website. I also found that booking the flight though airtran was much cheaper than other airlines, even though they charge for checked baggage.

Yea, I have a vacationstogo account. The cruise we are looking out is leaving out of New Orleans. It looks like the price is the same on cruises.com vacationtogo.com and the norwegiancruiseline.com site.So I guess it doesn't matter too much.

Have you tried kayak.com just for comparison shopping?  It's a search engine that searches multiple other cruise websites (including some of the ones you listed).

I just did Kayak and everyone had the same rate. I think it's going to be the same every where because it's a sale rate.

I don't know if you need a flight or not, but for the next 2 days, Southwest Airlines is offering $50 and $100 fares for travel in December and January. Might check out their site and see if Dallas- New Orleans flights qualify for your dates.

If you have never been to New Orleans I highly suggest it. You can explore the city a day or so before you leave on the cruise. It is one of my favorite cities in the US and there is nothing like it.

I used to work for Carnival and I'm not sure if you know this or if it helps but if you or your husband have ever been in he military you can get a really nice discount. All the cruise lines offer big discounts for over 55, past or present military, certain people that work in the travel industry and past guest. A lot of first time cruisers don't know this and they don't ask. The prices are set across the board so you wont see a cheaper price on any of the websites than what you can get by booking directly. They might have a special for you like a $50 on board credit or something like that and AAA does sometimes have their own special but other than that they are set. Watch out for the fuel charge. They weren't charging it there for a while but now that oil is above $70 I bet they are charging again. HTH!!
