Cheese "Cake"

I must have one of these stacks-of-cheese faux cakes. As soon as I saw a picture online I knew it was for us...

Any suggestions on where I can have this made? We are getting married in Carmel, CA. (I have found one place in San Fran but they only do ones that look like real cakes. I want it to be rustic and definitely obviously cheese)

Thanks!!

  • I don't know what that is, but I would have something sweet to finish off the meal in addition to this cake.  Try posting on your local board for ideas on where you might get this.
  • I love these! I'm not big into sweets so we're having a cheese and fruit display with dessert. Have you brought some pictures to gourmet cheese shops or asked your caterer? The cheese shops should be able to pick out the cheeses and you caterer should be able to assemble it. These are simple enough to do you don't need someone that specializes in them.

  • I would do these for the cocktail hour and have a real cake after dinner.

  • I wanted one of those so badly for my own wedding but I quickly learned during the planning that people really do expect and enjoy actual cake so we went that route and had a gourmet cheese platter so I could get my cheese fix. =)

I like the suggestion about having one of these at cocktail hour.  My only thought on this is that you probably need a really large guest list if you don't want to waste a ton of cheese.  Most people will only eat 1-3 ounces of cheese tops.
