Cake(:

What are some cake flavors that you and your guests both liked? We really like the raspberry filling, and either chocolate or like a french vanilla cake. Are there any unique cake flavors? If you have any links to good bakerys that would be great too!

We had red velvet for our wedding cake and I've pretty much been pathetically obsessed with it ever since.

I love chocolate and raspberry as a combination.  Also chocolate cake with kahlua frosting.

Here's a list of wedding cake flavors from a bakery I love, but they're in NYC (Kitchennette), so you might want to post on your local board for specific suggestions of bakeries:
    Chocolate, vanilla, lemon, coconut,
    orange almond, lemon poppy seed,
    raspberry checkerboard , lemon,
    orange or chocolate checkerboard,
    carrot, banana, red velvet, german
    chocolate, boston cream, pumpkin
    spice, cappuccino, sprinkle,
    chocolate peanut butter, strawberry
    shortcake

We had a lemon cake.  I like most cakes, but prefer not raspberry filling because of the seeds.

If you are looking for bakeries, try posting on your local board.  I'm guessing you do not really want to hear about how awesome Carl's Cakes in Sun Prairie, WI is.

I love red velvet but some people make it really dry and a dry red velvet cake is a bad red velvet cake lol

back in the day (15 years ago, 2nd marriage) I had one layer that was chocolate/caramel/turtle, one white with lemon filling, and one white with raspberry filling.  Good thing I got a bite of the turtle cake at the reception because there was none left.

We're doing cupcakes and having flavors like Margarita and Peach Bellini. We'll also do some kind of more standard chocolate or vanilla for the people who like more traditional flavors.

We're doing cupcakes for our at home reception and are getting coconut, chocolate marshmallow, cherry and chocolate banana. We wanted to be a little adventurous. We're just having a super simple 1 tier chocolate cake for our actual wedding night because our resort only offers chocolate or vanilla.

The best wedding cake I have ever had was champagne with strawberry filling.  I was very sad my baker didn't offer it.  My second favorite ever was one of my own flavors, which was tres leches.  We also had white with raspberry filling and chocolate with ganache filling and both were delicious.

I found a bakery in my area that will do Turkish Delight cupcakes, and that's what I plan to get for my wedding. I'm also considering a pinapple flavor and mandrain orange flavor.

Our cake layers are going to be white cake with raspberry filling, triple chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling, french vanilla cake with lemon filling, and strawberry swirl cake with bavarian cream filling. Yum!
