We are having an early wedding and have an estimated 200 people.  I am not sure how big or how much cake I will need.... Help!  Thanks

Are you using a bakery?  They should know exactly how much to provide.

You should have at least 1 piece per person.

My friend had a cake that was only big enough to serve half the people at her reception. The slices they handed out were super thin....it was not good.

At the very least 1 piece per person. I would order 10-20 extra slices.

The staff at my cousin's wedding cut some pieces really big and they only ordered enough for each person- this lead to the staff cutting into their top tier in order serve all the guests a slice of cake. She was not pleased

Definintely 1 perperson for a minimum. And as sparent said, make sure you are remembering this is if they cut the cake correctly. We are having a hexagon shaped cake and when we looked at the schematic plan on how you are suppose to cut that cake there is no way anyone would actually cut it like that. Therefore, we ordered extra cake. And we are paying the venue to cut the cake for us.
