cake tasting tomorrow

We're going to our cake tasting tomorrow and were told to bring along some ideas of cakes/styles that we like.

We want to keep the price down as much as possible. We are buying sheet cake for our guests and getting a little cake (6 inch round cake) for cutting, and a faux tier below it. I'm afraid to bring in photos of cakes (which all I can find in magazines are sooo nice and I'm sure also expensive) because I don't want decorations to equal a lof of added costs.

What would you suggest.. should I just take in those photos anyway or go in there empty handed, tell them our budget, and go from there?

Take in your photos and see if they can give you something with a similar feel in your budget. They will have a better idea of what you want. They should be able to make changes according to your budget.

Definitely take your photos and tell them your budget! Hopefully they can design a cake that combines the elements from the photos you like while still fitting in your price range!
