Help me pick an entree :)

well, i THOUGHT we had our menu all picked out but FI decided to throw a few monkey wrenches in the works lol

Ok, we are DEFINATELY doing Eggplant Rollatini as an entree.  We get one more entree, a pasta, and a vegetable.  It is being served buffet style.

For the pasta we've narrowed it down to either - spinach/vegetable lasagna OR penne with vodka sauce

For the other entree - I assumed we'd do a chicken, just because it's "safer" and my family is pretty picky.  But he wants either a "funky" chicken dish or a seafood.  We narrowed it down to these - Chicken Marsala, Chicken Francese, Reisling Chicken with shallots & mushrooms, or lobster ravioli with scallops in vodka sauce.

Any thoughts on which pasta we should do and which other entree we should do?

Thanks

I vote for spinach lasagna over penne vodka.  I like lasagna better, and I think it looks a bit more elegant/interesting than pasta swimming in cream sauce, which is what penne with vodka sauce has been in my experience.

For the other entree, I don't have a personal preference because it's been too long since I had any of those chicken dishes.  If your family is picky and you know they will like one dish better, I would go with that one.  I would be inclined not to go for the ravioli, because some people try not to eat large quantities of pasta.  I know you have the eggplant, but I think that if you are worried about picky eaters (that eat meat), a chicken marsala or chicken francese is a pretty safe bet.

This conversation made me hungry for lasagna.

I'd go with lasagna and the chicken marsala (marsala is just a savory wine sauce usually served with mushrooms; it's not going to scare anyone away--trust me).

If you're going to do seafood, don't do a seafood pasta because you're already serving pasta!

Ditto either chicken Marsala or chicken francese.  I'd happily eat either of the pasta options, so I'm no help there.

I love lasanga but not veg. lasanga and not alot of people like spinach so my vote is to penne.  For the entree...consider if any one have allergies to mushrooms or shellfish.  If not, ask a few of your closest family members which would be the biggest hit.

I would hope the catering hall can "cater" to a guest with food allergies, even if it's on the spot.
