Served Dinner VS Buffet Stations

We are doing a buffet style only b/c we picked our venue and they have in house caters that only do buffet style so we have our hands tied.  I looked at plated dinners since I really wanted that.  I live in the south and I have never been to a plated dinner wedding.  My friend is getting married in PA next weekend and her wedding will be the first plated lunch wedding I have been to.  Also, another friend lives in MD and she has never been to a buffet style wedding before..mine will be her first!

I think it just varies on your preference and financial situations.  To me plated seemed to be more expensive.  Also, with buffet you don't have to worry about a seating chart.

I don't like buffet restaurants but don't mind them as weddings! I don't eat a lot!

we are doing a plated dinner. everyone will get chix, beef tips, salad, potatoes, and a roll. we thought this would be more organized than having everyone up walking around to get their food.
