sylvia weinstock cakes

I love the look of her cakes- they incorporate alot of flowers, etc.. Would I beable to get my baker to make a replica for cheap- by making a simple tiered rond with pearl accents, and have my florist incorporate a ton of flowers? or will it still be expensive.  I found a good baker that her prices are 2.75 - 3.75 per slice, and I think this will be quite simple, and cheap.... any ideas??  The pic below is an example of what I am thinking...

Depends on what you think "cheap" is and how much your flowers cost.  You know roughly how much your cake will cost (price per serving X # of guests = cost of cake).  So what you really need to know is the cost of the flowers.  Once you know the tier sizes of the cake, your florist will know how much to order.

Sylvia's cakes are so expensive in part because of all the sugar flowers that she uses.  These take a lot of time to make and are not cheap.

Flowers will definitely add to the cost whether they are real or sugar.  Just my rose topper was $60.

I agree with PPs. It would be difficult to get something like her cakes for "cheap." They will be very expensive, because it's the work that costs a lot of $.

That design isn't simple at all, I highly doubt you'd be able to find a baker that would do it for cheaper- or even have the expertise to pull it off. Sylvia Weinstock cakes are expensive for a reason.

Im not asking that they do the sugar flowers.  I know they are expensive.  I am looking to create the same look only with real flowers, that will help wih the cost, and the rest of the cake design should be easy.

Read my post (first post).  Then talk to your florist.

Flowers are going to cost about 125.00. The estimate for a cake with the sugar flowes came out to be 950.00   The baker had mentioned something about the real flowers having bugs and pesticides in them- I figured, but I am pretty sure the florist is extra careful with what flowers she gives for cakes since she has done it before.  The baker said something like oh the sugar flowers you can set aside and bring them back to me and I can create a basket for you with the left over flowers that you can keep in your house for up to 2 years as an added bonus... ( Which I dont think I would want).... but this makes me think, is it really worth the sugar flowers because people obviously dont really eat them any way from the way she makes it sound..

As you said, I am sure the florist will be extra careful about bugs, dirt... But things happen.  So, if Aunt Bee finds a ant in her cake, you really can't blame the bakery or the florist.  That is life with real flowers.

That being said, thousands of people a year use real flowers on their cake.  I think the main thing is not to pick any toxic flowers and you should be fine.
