Will the candy be stale?

I am getting married this Friday (YAY!!!!!!!!!).

The venue is going to place the candy jars for the candy bar out for me. They have asked that to make it easier for them, I put the candy in the jars beforehand and saran wrap it.

Wednesday and Thursday we will not have time to do this (the candy and jars are at my parent's house 45 mins away so I have to drive out there to do it). So that means I may have to do it on Tuesday. Would the candy be stale or hard by Friday if I placed it in the jars on Tuesday or Wednesday?

Could you put the candy in big ziploc bags instead of right in the jar with saran wrap?  It might stay fresher that way.

If it's seran-wrapped, it's less likely, but not impossible. Candy is generally packaged in such a way that when sealed, it slows down the "aging" process. But the only options you have are to try it, make time for it on either of those days, or freak out trying to do it in time ON Friday. Good luck! Post back and let us know what you did and how it worked!

Will the jars be basically full? In general, what makes food go stale is exposure to air. If the candy is in a full jar, and the jar is wrapped in plastic wrap, that's not much air exposure. Even borderline wine snobs will drink wine that's been opened but had the equivalent protection for 5 days, and wine is generally more delicate than candy.

Depending on the kind of candy, you might want to store it in the refrigerator, too. If you're in Orange County, California, on an air-conditioned counter should be alright. The worry is changes in humidity and temperature.

Thanks, ladies! I think I will go ahead and put some of it in zip lock bags in the jars. Some of it, like lollipops and such, are going to remain wrapped so that doesn't matter. The only thing is we are getting zebra kettle corn, so we won't be getting that until Thursday.

I'll let you know how it turns out! :)
