Help with RSVP food choices

When we mailed out our invites for our wedding in May, the RSVP said to tell us 1)if they're attending and 2) how many of each food choice (there is steak, fish or vegetarian). I should have had them inital who is getting what, but I failed to do so.
Now- we dont know who in the party is getting fish or steak!

Help! Any ideas? :)

I think you will have to call/e-mail people and ask.

Do you know if you are doing individual escort cards or by the couple?  If you do by the couple, you can just put the signal for both of the choices the couple indicated on the card.  I think the servers usually come around to confirm choices, so they would find out for sure then, but would still have the rough estimate.  If the servers aren't going to do that, they still would bring over the two dishes indicated on the card and could just say "the chicken?" or whatever and the one in the couple who wanted chicken would say so.  Check with your caterer to make sure it will be ok to not have the meal choices precisely indicated on the escort cards if you go this route.

For people on one RSVP card that aren't sitting together, you need to follow up with them to find out.

Yes, I will have to follow up with them. They are each getting their own place card- it would be easier if they one place card per couple.

    Thank You!

I just told the venue "Table 5 ordered 5 of dish A and 3 of dish B" and let them figure it out. But find out if that's okay.

It does not matter.  The caterer will ask your guests if they are having the chicken or the fish or the beef or the pasta or the eggplant etc.

It might matter. Our venue allowed us to have multiple options (steak, fish, chicken, and vegetarian) because we agreed to indicate what each guest was having via their placecard in someway.
