wedding cake topper or flowers on top of the wedding cake

ARE YOU USING A WEDDING TOPPER OR USING FLOWERS ON TOP OF YOUR WEDDING CAKE?  I've been looking at different wedding cake toppers and I haven't seen one that I liked.  I had my heart set on a hot air balloon wedding cake topper since FI proposed in a hot air balloon but that is hard to find.  I found one on etsy but the people looked too cartoon like and I saw a blown glass one that was way too much.

I didn't use a cake topper or flowers. My cake was pretty simple in design and I liked it better without anything on top

We used flowers because our florist offered us a free floral cake topper, and I didn't have any interest in buying a cake topper.

I would use a topper. I think it says so much more about a couple than flowers. The hot air balloon is SUCH a cute idea. I did check out a few places for you, and didn't find anything great. By the way, I LOVE etsy.com, I'm thinking of puting some of my stuff on there soon. How about this idea though. Find a hot air balloon keepsake and put a cake topper of your choice inside of it. Does that make sense? I've attached the cake topper I used, I thought it would look cute in, or next to a hot air balloon. I am a designer and I designed my whole country themed wedding...if you need any help or suggestios with anything, let me know :) I also designed and made all of my decorations, invitations etc. I could even make you a hot air balloon topper if you want something special and custom. Let me know, and good luck!

i think it depends on your style of cake.  We are having flowers as we want the cake to look rustic, we arent having icing so a topper would look wierd..  i like the idea lf the balloon topper though, its very original.  Maybe you could have the bakery make an edible one?

Fresh flowers (roses).  I'm not a fan of cake toppers in general, plus this is just the look we were going for.

We're using love bird cake toppers; the ones that have their necks entwined like they are hugging.  David's Bridal has them -- we've incorporated love birds into the wedding into a few places.

We were going to go flowers because all the toppers we found I hated, looked cheap, or just wasn't right.  Then, when I was looking for something else altogether, I found the perfect seashell topper on etsy.

I think you can post a request on etsy describing what you what and people respond with proposals and bids.  might be worth a try.  it'll be sad if you are so set on something as seemingly simple as a hot air balloon cake topper and it doesn't work out.  I'd throw it up on etsy and just see what happens!

We're either going to use a couple Star Wars figurines or nothing at all since we've got our initials and some graphics worked into the mosaic pattern.  I want to use Chewbacca and an ewok, since FI's a Star Wars geek and that's what we call each other, but we may end up going with Han Solo and Princess Leiah, since they were actually a couple.  I want to incorporate FI's personality into our wedding as much as he'll let me, because he's very reserved and wouldn't do it for himself.  I may look into seeing if an Etsy seller can create these for us as a cake topper so it doesn't end up looking like toys on a cake.

I've never been a fan of cake toppers. So depending on what our cake ends up looking like, if we do anything on top it'll be flowers.
