Boxed Lunch

Hi,

I am thinking of providing boxed lunch for my wedding
http://www.ingallina.net/pdf/Box_Lunch_Printable_Menu.pdf

Do you know how should I phrase it in my wedding invitation so that people won't expect a buffet or full plated lunch?

Is this still considered Reception follows or I should say "light reception"?

Please let me know. Thank you so much for your inputs :)

That seems kind of casual to me, so I think as long as your reception venue wouldn't make people expect a more formal meal, you'll be fine.  When I've had boxed lunches like that (sandwich, chips, fruit, cookie), I've found them to be pretty filling, so I don't think you need to warn people that they won't be getting a lot to eat.

This is the second post in a row that I've ditto'd Jessica...haha!

Also, no advice on wording, but OMG those sandwiches look good.  Yum.  I'd love to be a guest!

Are you just going to order an assortment of sandwiches and hope everyone gets something that they like?  Is there any way you could order sandwich platters instead of boxed lunches?  You could do a sandwich buffet and set out chips, fruit, and cookies along with the sandwiches.  I think that would look a little nicer than just plopping down a bunch of boxes.

I'd expect something a little more formal with that venue, too. I like Onion's idea of a sandwich tray-- it's still a little casual, but a step up from boxes. But those sandwiches do sound great!

I agree with PPs that the venue is a little more formal looking.  If you decide to go with plated trays of sandwiches, it would be nice to separate different kinds.  One thing I like about the boxes is that my vegetarian sandwich isn't sitting with all the meat ones on a tray for several hours, especially if the meat is falling out or otherwise leaking ingredients.

Are you going to order a certain variety of lunches?

yes. i am thinking of giving people choices between indonesian lunch box, chinese food lunch box, western and vegetarian options. also i will provide little hors d'ourves and dessert table on top of the lunch boxes. the reason i opt for boxed lunch is due to the nature of the vnue as well. there are just rows of pews. no tables. so, yeah i figure elegant lunch boxes with bows should work best. i thank you for all your inputs!! i'm still gathering ideas :)

I think you could put "picnic style lunch reception to follow" or "lunch reception to follow." People will be getting a full meal, so it shouldn't really matter what KIND of food they're getting or how it is served. It seems like a cute idea to me. I'm also assuming this will be around lunch time, which makes it more casual by default.

That looks AWESOME. I would be happy with that!!  I just told my husband (first time ever saying that!!) that we need to Portland to check out the sandwiches.
