Snack Food

We are having a very casual reception and to be honest, we can't afford to feed people a meal anyways. We want to have snacks available but I am at a complete loss for what types of snack food we should serve. I feel like chips and things of that nature are tacky, but I still want snack foods. I know this is kind of a wierd request but any help from all of you would be wonderful! Thanks

Spinach and artichoke dip with pita bread and/or chips.  Hummus.

    Fruit/veggie/cheese trays with crackers.

Passed hors d'oeuvres like fried chicken tenders, egg rolls, mini pizzas (or a large pizza sliced into small squares), grilled chicken skewers, etc.

There are a ton of options.  Please either have a TON of options at dinner time or do a non-dinner time reception with a couple options and then you're golden!

Salsa bars are always good. Sliders, empanadas, antipasto platter or something on a stick.

Ditto on the non-dinner time reception if you are only serving light snacks.

Like I said earlier, we are on a budget. I don't think I will be able to afford passed hors d'oeuvres. I won't be able to afford the wait staff, and I'm not sure about the types of foods you suggested. I appreciate everything though. Thanks!

Have a sheet cake, cheese & cracker tray, veggie platter, and fruit platter.

Maybe some mixed nuts, pretzels, etc too.

If you can't do "high end" snacks, I would say a veggie tray and some spinach dip and Hawaiian bread or chips, maybe some salsa and chips, and fruit if you can afford it! Just dress it up and make it as pretty as you can. You know your crowd, and they know you - I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just do what you can do!

I second the notion that you should have a non-meal time reception, though! Like, afternoon (2-4) or late evening (8-9).

    Good luck!

Thank you very much for all of your help. We will be having a 1:30ish wedding so the reception will definitely be snack time. Thanks again ladies!
