Order of Processional

FI and I are getting married outside in a garden. His parents are divorced and his dad is now re-married. I would like FI to walk his mom down the aisle. Also, I'm having a Hindu ceremony, so it's tradition that my maternal uncle walk me down the aisle. So I figured my parents would walk down the aisle together.

Is this a good order? Or should my parents walk before FI and his mom?

Re: Order of Processional

  • That sounds good to me =)  I really don't think the order matters...
  • The grooms parents are supposed to walk before the bride's parents because the bride's mother is supposed to be the last person out to signal that the wedding will start so you are right on with your processional.
  • Speaking of this...FI's parents are "separated"/almost divorced.  When do they walk in?  Do they walk in separately?  Is FI supposed to walk his mom down the aisle?  Is this customary?

  • Your processional order sounds great.

Ally, I think separately. Like maybe your FI's dad can already be seated or escort his mom (FI's g-ma) or another family member and then FI escorts his mom.

  • Thanks Ladies!

AllyG303 - I'm having FI walk his mom down the aisle because she is single and I don't want her to walk down the aisle alone. I thought it would be nice for FI to escort her.  If your FI's parents are separated, perhaps FI could walk down the aisle with both of them, one on each side, rather then them having to both walk alone.  Maybe ask them what they are comfortable doing and go from there.
  • I think it looks good. I'd keep your parents walking after your FI's parents.

My brother is a GM and he's walking my mom down the aisle to seat her then going around and then walking again with a bridesmaid.
