Coffee or Not?

I'm trying to decide if I should rent a coffee maker or not for our reception.  Here's a little background:

Cocktail hour starts at 5:30pm.  Drinks will be served until 10pm.  We will have beer, wine, and signature drinks along with non-alcoholic drinks.  I would probably have someone start brewing the coffee shortly before 10pm.  The reception ends at 11pm.  Drive back to the hotels is about 20 minutes.

So, would you appreciate coffee or would it be a waste of money?

Many people like coffee with dessert, regardless of the time. Some people will choose that over your other drink options, especially any older guests. However if you are going to wait that late to start brewing it, you're better off skipping it entirely.

I think most of my family would appreciate coffee, because they always have it with dessert.  So I agree perhaps it should be brewed around the time of the cake cutting..

I know a lot of weddings have coffee available with the cake as people have it with dessert.  I don't think you need it as an end of the night thing, but maybe have it available when you serve cake.  A lot of older guests will drink it probably.  Also, I agree that I don't think it's that big a deal if you don't have it at all.

i debated the same thing.  We decided to serve coffee and I think most of the older people drank that with cake and after dinner.  I'd say it's a very good idea and not very expensive.

Thanks ladies!  I didn't think about people drinking it with dessert.  It's $20 to rent the pot, so I'm thinking about skipping it just to save money.  I'll keep debating it though.

    I'd serve coffee.

Could you get that Box o' Joe thing from Dunkin Donuts? Would that be more cost-effective?

We have them in Florida, just not in Tallahassee.  Interesting concept though.

Great question. I was just thinking the same thing to myself.

With the service rental (cups, etc), coffee is ~ $400 for me for 70 guests. Is it worth it?
