Bakery Cafe Owner Trying To Find Vegetarian Caterer

I own a bakery cafe and I know for a fact that I'm expected to cater my own wedding, despite the fact that I neither cater, especially since I do not have the staff for it, nor do I plan on catering my own wedding.

Not only do I have to deal with disappointment from guests that I'm not creating my own food, I'm having a difficult time finding a caterer that does French vegetarian food (FI are vegetarian, along with a good majority of our guests), but I already have a menu I would like them to follow and I want their food to meet the standards I uphold for my own food. Not to be a bridezilla, but this is sort of my profession.

Where might I go to find a caterer? What sort of directories or websites would help me easily find a caterer that will fit my needs?

Try your local board. This is an international one.

I'm not looking for a specific caterer. I'm looking for a way to find one.

Yep, and they'll be able to help you out and point you to links and websites that will help you figure out how to search. Ther's a vendors bio for Hawaii (which is my local) that has a huge list of links for different vendors for each of the islands.

Failing that, try looking through Happy Cow's stuff.

I agree, post on your local and people may be able to help you. You might even be able to post your menu on Craig's List, asking for caterers that can accomodate you.  Obviously you'd want to find reviews and taste their food before committing, but it could be a starting point.

Also, and this is just me being nosy, but can you give an example of 'French Vegetarian food'?  I'm always curious to see how people handle vegetarian menus.

Is there a wedding expo near LA?   Metro Boston has one a month in the spring.  Most expos have lists of participants identified by specialty.

Some venues recommend specific caterers while others require certain people

Is there an LA monthly magazine?   Boston Monthly has an annual wedding edition.  There may be a copy at your local library.  My hair stylist recommended my caterer.  She specializes in wedding updos.

Hey, OP!  I just was reading a blog post about this caterer, http://www.heirloomla.com/. The post was about their lasagna cupcakes.  Anyway, the food looks yummy, and it would appear that they don't have set menus, meaning they would work with you on a vegetarian French menu.  Good luck!

I think any good caterer should be able to make whatever you want! Why don't you get out the yellow pages and ring/email them all a quick brief, and whoever seems the most helpful/excited/professional, go for a visit/tasting.
I am also interested in the vegetarian/french food, because I am a vegetarian, and have never seen a frnech restaurant i would go to, as they never have anything vegetarian!
