I haven't planned the menu yet, but I'm going the dessert buffet route. It might not be classy, but I'm hoping with an orgy of sweets no one will miss the cake!

A dessert buffet can be classy!  Set up a nice table and have fabulous desserts on it... what is un-classy about that?  You don't have to offer cake, but as long as you are offering a sweet post-dinner treat you are being a good host. 

Now if you're talking pot-luck, that is on the un-classy side, so try to steer away from that.
