Re: Say Anything Wednesday

I need to stop looking at ads and stop internet shopping.  I guess it's that time of year when I want to buy everything in sight...it's not helping my budget.

I'm 26 and considering a total career change.  This is scary.

At 25 and 26 you still have plenty of time. You could still have another 3 or 4 careers! My mom was in her early 40's before she graduated college and started teaching. Lots of people change careers when their kids are grown. In the library world, we have many many second-career people. Seriously, y'all are fine!

I cannot stop thinking about this inflatable penguin from Target and how it would look in my yard...too bad I probably won't get it this year  :(

Steph, just wait until after Christmas when it goes on sale for 50% off and then it will be so exciting next year!  Or you could scout it out and see if it goes on sale the day after Thanksgiving!  Confession: I've been stalking the Black Friday websites and already have things written down on where I want to go, what stores I'm going to hit up first and what time I want to be there. Kohl's opens at 4:00.  You can bet your a$$ I'll be there at 3:30 with a giant thermos full of coffee and a bag full of snacks.  This is my first Black Friday in 6 years.  I'm taking FULL advantage of it and getting my Christmas shopping done on that day!

I can't wait until tonight.  But I can't share what I'm doing.  Except maybe with Mariah.  :P

The idea that Christmas is coming up so fast makes me nauseous.  I'm not a Scrooge or anything but the holiday bug just hasn't hit me yet. If I buy any more trash to treasure stuff for the wedding my FI may just kill me.

I'm trying to practice the "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" approach on a few things on here...but it's just.so.hard.

Im having a fabulous hair day. And Donna, don't fret. I changed my career at 25, after investing a lot of time and money in Law school. But, I'm happier now for it.

Emi, I hope you get to show off your hair!  My good hair days are always on days when no one is around to see it.

No one gets to see it!!!! Ugh!! My office is closed today due to the holiday, so I'm banking on the Starbucks Barista to notice...yeah right. I'm going shopping today to hopefully jump start the holiday bug, but really I just want to buy bags, shoes, and make-up for myself. The contractors start work on our house today. Jeff will have a pleasant surprise when he comes home tomorrow and the kitchen is painted. He thought they started next week. I'm so stinking excited about all of our new bathroom and kitchen fixtures we ordered.

Stephens mom and sisters go shopping on Black Friday. I went with them last year. We left at 10:00 Thanksgiving evening, and didnt get back til 8:00 Friday morning. We went to Hillsboro since their outlet mall opened at 11pm. I wont EVER, and I mean EVER go to Walmart at 5:00 in the morning on black friday EVER again! That place was a mad house!

Mariah, I'm toying with the idea of Black Friday shopping.  Where have you gone in the past, and what was your experience?  I'm pretty passive in general and I'm worried that I'm just going to get trampled or something.  Or if I find something, someone will snatch it from me.  I will probably wait on the penguin.  We have a plain penguin that we will be putting up this year, but I thought our yard would look even better with 2.  But doesn't everything look better in pairs?

I will definitely be out on black friday, FI has incentives with work and just got some major gift cards to wal-mart and target, those should cover all of Christmas and maybe a few wedding odds and ends! So thankful for that!

I'm debating Black Friday.  I've never gone, and I'm also a passive person, so I don't really feel the need to, but Jordan loves watching the madness.  Last year our power went out late at night (can't even remember how we noticed), so we decided to get out and drive around for a bit to see the lines.  It was already madness.

My mom and I did Black Friday for the first time last year, and scored some major deals. I'd do it again.

LOL I'm all about the pairs!  :)  I totally see what you mean. In the past I've gone to malls like mid morning, but made stops at individual, stand alone stores way early.  Sure parking is atrocious at malls if you don't hit it up at the butt crack of dawn...but it's still fun :)  Honestly, I would avoid Walmart and possibly even Target at the wee morning hours.  I'm not going to be one of those crazy people who is pushing through and running into the store the moment the doors open.  Basically, Black Friday is all about patience.  Once you start getting irritable, it's time to go home.  At least that's what I've learned when going with my mom in years past.  We always end up having a good time and then get home and start figuring out how much money we saved :) It's fun, I just hope it's fun this year since we haven't gone and done something like that in so long.

I love Black Friday! I look forward to it every year. Fi usually stays the night at Best Buy there is usually always an item we want there! and after I go to kohls and then I meet him there before they open. This year I might just go camp out with him so we can both take turns sleeping in the car till I have to leave to go to kohls. Mariah is right you have to have patience and lots of it. We are usually always out till about 5 that evening, we grab food and usually go home and crash. I suggest taking bottled water and snacks so there isn't much stopping. Also for bathroom breaks it is better to stop at a Mcdonalds or fastfood joint because on those days their bathrooms are cleaner and less crowded.

I went shopping on Black Friday a few years ago for the first and last time.My student worker is having to redo something for the 4th time.I am done shopping for Christmas and birthdays for the rest of the year although I want to get more for FI but I just don't know what yet.  Keeping it a surprise from FI will be tough...hope I don't spill the beans! And no, she won't do what we ask and she won't "be cool with it" either- she hasn't yet why do you think she will randomly start doing it now?

FI keeps saying that his mom is cool with wedding things when she isn't...his head must be elsewhere.
