Do I get charged for children as guests in my bar package

Say I have 200 guests and 50 of those guest are under the age of 21 and 25 are under the age of 12. Do I still get charged the amount by 200, 150, or 125 for my bar package?

Re: Do I get charged for children as guests in my bar package

  • I think it would be pretty wrong if you did.  I could understand charging a few dollars for soda and juice, but I don't see how they can justify charging the full price.  The best thing to do about questions like this is to ask your venue.

We had a consumption bar (we paid by drink), so this wasn't an issue for us.
  • My venue only charges the bar fee for those attending over 21. It is only $5 for minors who can have juice and soda.

  • I agree with PPs.
  • You need to ask your venue.

For example I use to work on a boat that had 3 price tiers.

    3 and under = free
    4-12 = half off
13 and up = full price

The price included food and open bar.  So I guess if you look at it that way yes, you would have to pay for the bar for under 21.

If you are billed food and beverage separately I would suspect you would not have to pay for bar services for someone under 21.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
