Maybe see if you can get rid of an appetizer or something?  You can always try to talk to them.  Frankly though, all places have slightly different charges, and if you already signed a contract, I'm not sure you'll be able to do that much negotiating.

What is the difference in locations, like the ambiance? Is the hotel you are having your reception nicer or more upscale? This could make the price go up. Also how many courses is your meal vs. the one your friend served. Like the PP said you could get rid of an appetizer or salad.
