Cake Research

I'm pricing bakers for my wedding cake. It's ranging from $2.75/slice - $4.00/slice. I have absolutely no frame of reference for a "good" price for a wedding cake.

So, my lovely knotties, how much are you paying per slice, and what area do you live in?

I'm in Oregon and our cake will be $3.24/slice. Most independent bakers around here charge in the $2.50-$3.50 range for cakes; the high end patisserie is $4+ slice.

Our wedding was in RI and we paid $4 per slice.   We had a number of special requests that increased the price (design options, multiple flavors, multiple fillings).

Prices here range from $3 per slice on up.  I think we paid around $3.50 but it's not uncommon to see $5+.  We loved our baker and thought the price was about right.  Taste was the most important thing for us since we didn't want anything over the top as far as design.

We have one lady in Dallas that does those crazy cakes on the Food Network and my boss got his wedding cake from her shop and it was $9 a slice.

We paid about $5/slice.  Where I live, cake ranges from $3 (usually by a home baker) to $20/slice (all organic material, crazy decorations).  Yeah, SF is expensive.

however, someone also in our area was charging $7/slice. if that was my only option i'd be buying 7 boxes of cake mix and make up my own.

Just paid $3.00 per slice from Creations Cake. I've look at 4 different places and this place is the best in price AND quality!! For 100 people, I end up paying $300 which included the delivery charges...THAT IS GREAT.

I think the wedding cake is $3.25, and the sheet cake will be $1.75. Altogether it priced out to $450 for about 175 people.

We are paying $5+ a slice/pp.  That includes decorating and transportation cost.  I was willing to spend more on my cake though because I wanted a cheesecake wedding cake.  We are having 3 tiers, each with two layers of cheesecake and a filling, and multiple flavors.   Come to think of it I'm getting a pretty good deal.  If we went the regular cake route it would have been $3.50 a slice.
