When to order cake?

Hi all,
So my wedding is Sept 14,2013, I was wondering when I should find a baker and set up a tasting and book them. This is the first wedding my family has planned so I'm a bit lost. I have pretty much everything together but a baker and florist.

I was a September bride and I had my cake ordered by May. I did tastings in late April. I booked the florist around the same time. Its important to lock down your date as early as you can. Many bakeries or florists only do so many deliveries on any given day. So if you are using a bakery in high demand, the earlier the better.

My wedding's in August. I just set up some cake tasting appointments for the end of April and neither bakery seemed to think I was waiting too long. It really depends on the area.

I just ordered my cake yesterday for a June wedding But overall timelines in Utah seem to be much shorter, plenty of bakers I contacted still had availability on my date.

I'm a September 1st 2013 bride and I met bakers and florists last month. I picked, sent the contract and deposit two Weeks ago. I was worried our wedding date wouldn't be available.

Thanks everyone!
I live in community that has a huge naval base near it and population has increased alot over past couple of years so things book up fast. I went throught at least 4 photographers before I found one that had my date available.
I am starting to look this week..I am a overnight ER nurse so it is really hard to set up appointments on "normal" people schedules. LOL
