Private health insurance?

I'm looking into buying a private health insurance policy. Has anyone done this before? Is it better to go through an agent or the internet? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

I used www.ehealthinsurance.com when I needed private insurance. They have plans from Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna and a couple others to select from.

My parents just got some for my brother.  I think they just went to the insurance company's website--they got a really great policy for him through Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

I have it. It sucks, but it's better than nothing. We went through an agency. They gave us a TON of options for different plans through different companies with varying premiums and deductibles. We went with a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan that has a super high deductible, but a small office visit co-pay.One thing to know-- no private policies in Texas offer maternity coverage AT ALL, so don't plan on getting knocked up while you have a private plan.

Thanks ladies. Almoyo, why do you say it sucks? Is it the coverage or the premiums? The policy I have at work sucks, but it is about to cancel because I don't work enough hours anymore. I have looked at a few private policies online and they are just a little more expensive than what I'm paying now but the coverage is way better.
