would this be tacky? Caterring from resturants?

I am seriously consdering ordering/caterering from a resturant such as Arby's or Subway...

We are having a very casual outdoor country/rustic wedding that is gonna be one big family get together pretty much. We are inviting 60 people( including the wedding party) and i'm expecting around 40 to show up, so i'm kinda hesitant on going with an actual caterer and I don't trust myself to make all of that food myself in time..

I'm actually leaning more towards Subway that anything.
** we would be having a variety of meats, cheeses, breads, desserts, drinks, along with our wedding cake, etc...

  • If you went with Subway would you just be getting all the supplies to make the subs and then the guests can put together their own sandwhiches or will the subs already be assembled?

I would actually suggest just going to your local supermarket and have them prepare you deli trays with your selection of meats and cheeses along with pasta salads, chicken salads, potato salads, assortment of breads and possible dessert trays.

I only suggest this because not everyone is a fan of subway and if they everyone prefers their subs or sandwhiches different ways.

    Good luck!

  • ditto Maggie.

I'm not a Subway fan, actually I hate them. But I'm a fan of the idea of deli trays of meats, breads, salads, etc.

Call you local supermarkets or corner deli store.  The food will be better and maybe even cheaper.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Not tacky at all. I agree with PPs that there may be similar alternatives to Subway that are a bit tastier, but it's never, ever rude to host sub sandwiches at a fairly casual wedding.
  • I personally hate the ham at Subway.  I'd go the supermarket route!
    Anniversary
  • Local supermarkets with a deli make really good food...hot and cold. They could supply you with deli meats, bbq beef for sandwiches etc.
